SQUALANE
Olive-Derived Squalane

Squalane has a remarkable affinity with the skin because it is closely related to squalene, a lipid naturally present in our own sebum. Squalene is part of the skin's natural surface lipids, where it contributes to softness, flexibility and the protective environment that helps keep skin comfortable and healthy looking. Squalane is its more stable form, prized in skincare for delivering that same beautiful skin compatibility.
For skin experiencing dryness, dehydration, roughness or loss of suppleness, Squalane helps replenish surface lipids and reduce moisture loss. It softens without feeling heavy, helping restore the smooth, flexible quality that dry or depleted skin can lose. Squalane is also interesting for visible skin aging. Laboratory research using human skin cells has found that it can help protect against some of the effects of UVA-induced oxidative stress, including changes associated with collagen production. While this research is not the same as a clinical wrinkle study, it adds an intriguing antioxidant dimension to an ingredient already exceptionally valuable for moisture and barrier support.
The visible difference is beautifully simple: skin that is well moisturized and supple tends to look smoother, plumper and more luminous, with dryness and fine dehydration lines appearing softened.
J21 uses olive-derived Squalane in both HALCYON™ and AFTERGLOW™, where it provides lasting moisture and exceptional softness while maintaining the elegant skin feel of both botanical oils.
