POMEGRANATE SEED OIL
Punica Granatum Seed Oil

For thousands of years, the pomegranate has symbolized beauty, vitality and renewal across Persia, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Hidden within its jewel-like seeds is an unusually sophisticated oil whose modern research gives that ancient association with renewal an entirely new meaning.
Pomegranate Seed Oil is extraordinarily rich in punicic acid, a rare conjugated omega-5 fatty acid that can comprise a substantial majority of its fatty-acid profile. Punicic acid is one of the characteristics that separates Pomegranate from more familiar botanical oils, with research demonstrating antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.
But Pomegranate becomes especially compelling when we look at visible skin aging and repair. Research involving pomegranate seed oil has demonstrated effects on keratinocytes, the predominant cells of the epidermis, while other pomegranate-derived compounds have been studied in fibroblasts—the cells responsible for producing collagen and other components of the skin's structural matrix.
Research on pomegranate has also explored pathways involved in collagen breakdown and photoaging, including matrix metalloproteinases—the enzymes that can accelerate degradation of collagen following UV exposure and oxidative stress. This gives Pomegranate a much deeper role in body care than simply making dry skin feel soft.
As collagen, natural lipids and moisture decline with age, body skin can become thinner-looking, drier, less firm and increasingly crepey, with fine lines becoming more visible across the décolletage, arms, hands, stomach, thighs and knees. Pomegranate brings together antioxidant defense, rare fatty acids and skin-repair research to support skin showing those accumulated signs of time and environmental exposure.
With consistent conditioning, dry mature skin feels more supple and resilient, while fine lines caused or emphasized by dryness and crepey texture can appear smoother. Its antioxidant compounds help protect against oxidative stress associated with premature visible aging, while its lipid profile supports the healthy environment skin needs for normal repair.
This is why Pomegranate belongs in The Signature Body Butter™. It transforms the conversation from simply moisturizing the body to caring for body skin as it ages—supporting repair, protecting against oxidative damage and addressing the appearance of fine lines, crepey texture and loss of resilience.
